BMW Roadster Homecoming 2003 (part7)
Of course Saturday morning came again (too early) but this year mother nature provided abundant sunshine for a wonderful top down panoramic shot.
We won't get into a large discourse over whether or not we actually would have known that a certain young lady (and I use that term, loosely) had dropped her top too, if someone had not (so graciously) scanned at super-high resolution so we could give her the attention she was looking for and did not deserve.
I made it to the tech session this year right after the pano pic was taken. Above Alvie Harris, touches up a paint chip, he also did a fabulous job of buffing out a few small to medium scratches in the clear-coat using 3M's Final Finish. (great stuff) The keying, will be a winter project.
A few shots from the Zentrum, one of the Z4 (and no its not quite as funny looking as we first thought
when we glimpsed the early shots on the message board over a year ago). Zeattle Dave asked for this one in front of the Zentrum.
Below, Denise poses with the creator from of a lovely clear plexi windscreen "Roadster Solutions" for the Z4. This was a prototype and was not available from the vendor tent, but she did write a check so one of the first production models could be shipped to her home in Washington. This is beautifully made and really looks like it came from BMW.
Above, hidden between Mary and Denise is a perfect example of the awesome people you meet at a Z Series outing. I moved my car into the shade and was joined minutes later by Greg in his green Z3. We introduced ourselves and exchanged cards. While we were talking about the heat, Craig Cannon (1point9) in his Arctic Silver DA Super-charged 1.9l, drove by the exit drive on his way to the parking lot. I remarked, "hey that's Craig, he still owes me a test drive in his super-charged 1.9." Greg, whom I had known for only a couple of minutes, reached in his pocket and handed me his keys. He said, "Here, just bring it back here when you're done. I said, "What, are you telling me this is a DA 1.9?" Yippie, I took her for a spin and had a blast, that extra boost is really fun, now where were those twisties? Greg, thanks again, you are a true gentleman.
